Saudia sees 10% rise in third quarter passenger carryings

Saudia saw a 10% increase in passenger numbers in the last quarter.

The national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia flew more than nine million passengers in the three months to September.

The summer performance contributed to volumes totalling 25.3 million across 143,000 flights in the January to September period.

International numbers rose by nine per cent in the airline’s third quarter to more than five million, while four million were carried on domestic routes within the country representing an increase of 12%.

The planned addition of 131 new aircraft to Saudia’s fleet will significantly expand flight options and capacity across its network of more than 100 destinations across four continents.

New international routes to be introduced will align with the airline’s strategy to connect the world to the country as part of a 2030 growth plan.

Saudia Group director general Ibrahim Al-Omar said: “The aviation industry is uniquely defined by its skilled workforce and cutting-edge systems that ensure sustained operational excellence.

“We remain committed to delivering innovative services that enhance the travel experience for our valued guests, and our new strategy meticulously addresses every aspect of air travel- from security and safety to expanding seating capacity to meet growing demand.”
