Malta Tourism Authority is running its travel agent of the year award for the second consecutive year to mark National Travel Agent Day.
MTA is asking travel agents to put forward a colleague to win the award and a three-night city break for two at the Embassy Valletta Hotel to be redeemed in either this year or in 2022.
The winning agent and the nominating travel agent will also win a place on a Malta Academy 2022 fam trip.
Nominees must be recommended by a fellow travel industry professional in a 200-word entry. Nominations should be sent to office.uk@visitmalta.com by August 24 and the winner will be announced on the MTA Trade Facebook Page.
Winners will be chosen by the Malta Tourism Authority UK office and will receive a three-night city break to Valletta and the award title ‘Travel Agent of the Year’.
UK and Ireland director Tolene van der Merwe said: “Travel agents have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic.
“We have been in touch with so many during the lockdowns and we’ve heard how hard they have worked on behalf of their clients during these exceptionally difficult times. We are so grateful for their continued support to share Malta, Gozo and Comino with holidaymakers.
“This is one of the reasons why we love the concept of National Travel Agent Day UK and wanted to create our own way of thanking agents for their dedication and perseverance.
“Now that we are on the UK’s green Llst, we are continuing to welcome back British tourists and we look forward to rewarding some very special travel agents with a trip of their own soon.”
Trade trainer Peter Green added: “Travel agents’ resilience and attitude during these difficult times continues to amaze me, so we cannot wait to see all the entries come in.
“The people of Malta are known for being passionate and friendly and we want to reward our travel agent partners who continually go above and beyond for their clients.
“Perhaps they have created something altruistic in these challenging times or completely reimagined their businesses to make things work for the team. Whatever it might be, we want to hear about it and share some positivity.”
