Council set to launch stronger branding for England
THE English Tourism Council is launching a new brand for England on May 24 to help the country compete with its strongly branded neighbours in overseas and home markets. The brand will be adopted by the British Tourist Authority, regional tourist boards, tour operators, destinations and local authorities in their advertising and promotions.
An ETC spokeswoman said: “Scotland and Wales have very strong brands and until now we have had nothing. We have to create a strong image for England to sell the destination.”
The ETC has devised an England marque that consists of a St George’s flag with four different images in each quarter to represent the themes of heritage, tranquillity, energy and innovation and culture. A bank of images, to be created this summer, will be available via the ETC’s Web site to organisations that want to slot different pictures into the four segments of the flag. The new marque will first be seen at the European Incentives and Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition in Geneva from May 23-25.
