Panorama widens choice of French and Austrian resorts
PANORAMA has expanded its number of French and Austrian ski resorts in 2000/01 as it bids to appeal to more experienced skiers.Val Thorens and Meribel have been added in France – doubling the options – with St Johann and Zell am See new in Austria, taking the number of resorts to five.
Contracts manager Pierre Espinasse said: “We have always been strong in Andorra and Italy but to attract a wider audience and appeal to more advanced skiers we are expanding in France and Austria.”
Properties in existing resorts have also been increased, he added.
Andorra has nine new properties spread across three resorts, while five properties are new in the operator’s two Italian resorts.
Spain however has been dropped from the programme following bad sales and also poor snow conditions this winter.
Panorama is looking to increase capacity by 25% in 2000/01, with France and Austria accounting for much of the growth.
Espinasse said the continuing strength of the pound has seen average prices fall by around £25 per person from the preview brochure.
Prices in France lead in at £235 for seven nights in Les Deux Alpes. Early-booking offers include free lift passes in Andorra and savings of £100 per couple for bookings made before October 31.
