BCP targets retailers with promotional drive

BCP is distributing 4m leaflets to retailers over the next 12 months promoting special agent pre-bookable rates for airport car parking.

Marketing director Eric Campus said the initiative aimed to highlight the extra commission agents could make by selling a largely untapped market.

He cited statistics compiled for the Civil Aviation Authority showing 25% of passengers travelling to Gatwick Airport park their cars there, 20% in Manchester, 33% in Newcastle and 50% in Cardiff.

BCP marketing director Eric Campus said: “With one two-minute booking, an agent can make £10, that’s more than they make booking some holiday packages.”

BCP’s Summer season prices start from £2.25 per day for Belfast Airport compared to a gate price of £2.50, while Gatwick prices start from £4.95, compared to the gate price of £5.50. However, discounted winter rates are also available until March 31.

BCP has also introduced airport executive lounges at 13 airports including Luton for £15.95 per person and £17.95 at Heathrow. Alcoholic beverages, snacks and magazines are as standard. Telephones and faxes are available for a small charge.

It has added Executive Parking for £9.95 per day with covered walkways to the airport.

BCPnow operates at Prestwick and covers the three main Scottish international airports.

Meet and greet facilities are also available at several facilities, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow.

Other services available include courtesy transport to airports and car valeting.

BCPhandled some 400,000 bookings at its 16 sites over 1999.
