Air New Zealand calls for more joint marketing promotions
AIR NEW Zealand has called on travel suppliers to share resources in a marketing campaign to jointly promote the Australia and New Zealand.ANZ general manager regional sales and marketing Grant Lilly said a single promotional campaign funded by several organisations would be more powerful than individual ventures and would enable the regions to capitalise on the publicity of the Olympics.
He said travellers who might have visited only Australia or New Zealand may be tempted to extend their stay in order to visit both countries if attractions were highlighted in new promotions or products.
One example he gave was of a joint promotion of Milford Sound in New Zealand and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
“The question now is whether separate promotion is the way ahead, whether we can achieve better results by working more closely together.”
He said tourism bodies and travel suppliers who are concerned they would lose their identities if they got involved in joint promotion should look to the success of airline alliances.
