Expert warns trade of threat from developing technology
TRAVEL agents will find competition even tougher once new broadband technology becomes widely used, according to Internet expert Peter Dennis.Broadband, which will speed up Internet connections and enable companies to use video to promote their products on-line, is expected to emerge within the next two years.
Speaking at the Embracing the Internet forum hosted by Travel Weekly and Sabre in London, Dennis said: “If you think competition is tough, it’s going to get tougher.”
He said agents will have to adapt to attract a new generation of clients. “They are not going to go into a shop and talk to a young agent,” said Dennis.
