AOL signs up WorldRes.com to supply accommodation content
AMERICA Online has signed up hotel reservations specialist WorldRes.com to supply accommodation content to the travel channels featured on its Web sites. The deal means WorldRes.com’s reservations system will appear in the travel sections of AOL, AOL.com, Netscape Netcenter, CompuServe and AOL Digital City.
WorldRes.com has a database of 15,000 properties worldwide, ranging from bed and breakfast to five-star hotels. It operates an on-line reservations system that takes bookings in real time.
The company offers its reservations system to a range of on-line partners and also runs its own consumer Web site under the name PlacesToStay.com. In addition, it operates BedandBreakfast.com, which features more than 26,000 properties. However, this does not offer a real-time booking facility.
