NITB to host retailers’ educational
The Northern Ireland Tourist Board is taking 35 agents from ABTA’s Yorkshire and north Midlands region on a three-day educational as part of its attempt to get closer to the UK trade.
The agents, who will all be first-time visitors to Northern Ireland, will spend one night at the new Forte Posthouse Hotel in Belfast before going to the Antrim coast for a day and on to County Down.
NITB travel trade executive Suzanne Morris said the trip, planned for September 20 until October 1, would go ahead in spite of the recent loyalist murders in Belfast.
“None of the agents have expressed any concern about going to Belfast and the trip will not be affected,” she said.
This is the first travel agents’ educational organised by the tourist board since it took members from ABTA’s Greater London region to Northern Ireland three years ago.
An educational planned for last year for agents from the Manchester area had to be cancelled.
“We would like to get more involved with ABTA’s regional groups in order to drum up interest in Northern Ireland,” said Morris.
