Airlines integrate winter flights to optimise aircraft capacity
AIRCanada and Canadian Airlines will integrate their schedules for the winter season.
The new schedule will see 68 flights per week from the UK to seven destinations in Canada, with both airlines operating from Heathrow’s Terminal 3.
The schedule will increase capacity on services to Vancouver from Heathrow by 60% using bigger aircraft. The Halifax-St John’s-London route has been expanded to a daily service, up from five last winter.
Air Canada general passenger sales manager for the UK and Netherlands Bob Atkinson said: “This combined winter operation enables the airlines to maximise their fleets and improve the timing of services.”
The Glasgow to Manchester and Toronto triangular route will revert to five services a week for the winter season.
Air Canada’s partnership with Star Alliance member British Midland will provide further UK departure points including Edinburgh, Belfast, Leeds-Bradford and Teeside.
Air Canada has announced it is to start daily non-stop services between Vancouver and Shanghai from November 21.
