BetterWeb gives Internet approval
accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers has launched a global Internet stamp of approval in a bid to boost consumer confidence in on-line transactions.
The BetterWeb programme will vet Internet sites to ensure they offer adequate information on security, privacy, sales terms and customer complaint procedures before allowing them to display the logo.
PricewaterhouseCoopers BetterWeb programme leader Stephen Rowe said:”We look at products and services. For example, customers may want to know what happens if they want to change or modify a ticket and how personal information is dealt with. Customers are going to expect to see some level of comfort before they place their reservation.”
The new stamp of approval follows European surveys which claim around a third of the population think the Internet is the most insecure place to conduct a transaction.
