Premier Hotels adds to UK portfolio
PREMIER Hotels has started a £65 million investment programme to expand the number of Days Inn-branded properties in the UK.
The Days Inn budget brand has 1,900 properties worldwide, mostly in the US, but it is now expanding this side of the Atlantic.
There are already 10 hotels in the UK, including a £5.5 million, 114-room property which opened in Glasgow last month with rates from £42 per room.
Premier Hotels managing director of brands and franchising Stuart Harrison said the company is aiming to open 10 more Days Inns by 2002, providing a total of 1,100 hotel rooms.
The group has also launched its first Howard Johnson hotel in London. The 120-room mid-market hotel cost £8 million to build and is the third Howard Johnson hotel in the UK.
The Howard Johnson brand is set to develop in key cities including Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Southampton, Nottingham and Glasgow.
