Aer Lingus and bmi services return to normal

Report by John Lavabre

AER Lingus services will be returning to normal today
following yesterday’s strike by pilots, cabin crew and middle management.

Members of the IMPACT trade union went on strike because of
a pay dispute with the Irish airline. Six flights have been cancelled today as
a knock-on effect of yesterday’s action.

BMI british midland’s Irish services have also returned to
normal today. Members of the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union,
which represents the airline’s ground staff in Ireland, were on strike yesterday
in protest at bmi’s decision to sell the ground handling operation to the Go
Ahead Group.
