n royal air maroc adds stansed route



RoyalAir Maroc launches twice-weekly flights from Stansted to Marrakesh on October 31. The services complements its existing flights to Casablanca from Heathrow. OnlyGatwick-based GB Airways, on behalf of British Airways, serves Marrakesh currently, also with two flights a week.



n klm to cancel most end-of-year services



KLMis to cancel almost all of its intra-European flights on the afternoon and evening of December 31. Partner Northwest Airlines is to cancel some long-haul services at the same time. Both carriers said demand for flights over the New Year period was significantly down on last year.



n air france to keep commission at 9%



Air France’s commission will remain at 9% until December. The airline will then cut rates from traditional levels to better reflect sales support from agents (Travel Weekly September 6).



n national express in New york airport deal



East Midlands Airport owners National Express have signed a $35m deal to manage New York’s Stewart Airport. The city’s fourth airport handles 700,000 passengers from American Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Delta Air Lines. A team from East Midlands and National Express’ Bournemouth International Airport will help run Stewart.



n air malawi doubles heathrow numbers



Air Malawi has doubled numbers from 12,000 to 24,000 from Heathrow under a year-old agreement with Virgin Atlantic. Passengers use Virgin flights to Johannesburg and connect on to Air Malawi to Lilongwe or Blantyre.



n eastern airways hopes for 50% boost



Humberside-based Eastern Airways expects to increase passenger numbers by 50% next year with the addition of two more 19-seater BAe Jetstream aircraft into its fleet. The extra capacity will see around 70,000 customers on routes to Aberdeen, Norwich and Glasgow.
