THE
BRITISH Hospitality Association has launched a CD-ROM to help people employed
in hotel sector serve disabled customers more efficiently.
The
CD, called ‘welcoming disabled guests’ includes four interactive modules for
staff to work through. The modules cover reasons why disabled people are
important, disability and the law, welcoming disabled guests and the final test
and certificate.
It
is sponsored by four hotel groups including Accor, Jarvis Hotels, Moat House
Hotels and Millennium and Copthorne.
Disability
partnership trustee Jeremy Logie said interactive quizzes are used throughout
the CD and the fourth module is a final test in which participants must
correctly answer 10 of the 12 questions to earn a certificate.
“The CD enables managers and staff to understand
the law in relation to disabled guests and how businesses can meet their legal
obligations as well as the needs of those with disabilities.”
