Kuoni is totally committed to running overseas educationals

I feel compelled to respond to Lisa Hardy’s letter regarding Kuoni cancelling educationals (Travel Weekly October 1).

Can I reassure her, and all your readers, that Kuoni is even more committed to running overseas educationals during this period than ever before.

We appreciate there are now opportunities to train the trade and we want to lead this initiative. This is why we are not only looking to run even more educationals, but we are also planning to put a training team on the road during the next few weeks.

The US educational referred to was cancelled by the airline (not Kuoni) during a tragic and difficult time when repatriation of US nationals was a priority.

However, by turning over the page in last week’s edition to the Kuoni advert, readers would have been confronted with a list of forthcoming educationals, including four groups to the US departing in November, demonstrating our commitment to training.

What I would ask of agents is that they do not cancel educationals and that policies are not put in place to restrict agents from travelling. If travel is restricted we will, very sadly and reluctantly, have to cancel overseas trips. I applaud Lisa’s sentiments; the industry needs confidence to sell destinations and we need to inspire the UK to travel.
