West Midlands Co-op checks out Cafe de Voyage

STRUGGLING
Café de Voyage has been thrown a lifeline by West Midlands Co-operative Society
just weeks after admitting it was on the verge of closure.

The
West Midlands Co-op has taken over the Milton Keynes business and trading name
for an undisclosed sum, but has not bought Café de Voyage parent company
Travelcafé.

A
casualty of the sale is co-founder Chris Daffy, who confirmed he is no longer
chairman of Café de Voyage following the acquisition. All 13 shop staff have
been kept on.

Earlier this month Daffy admitted Café de Voyage was
surviving on a week-to-week basis and could only operate until January unless
new investment was found.
