FLIGHTS and air-inclusive holidays sold by UK
operators for winter 2001/2 are 6.5% up on last winter, according to the Civil
Aviation Authority’s latest figures.
Between April and September last year, the number of
people on flights and holidays licenced by
the CAA’s Air Travel Organisers’ Licence rose by nearly 5% compared to summer
2000, but average holiday prices – only £4 more expensive than in 2000 – were
lower.
CAA director of consumer
protection Helen Simpson explained: “The number of holidays sold continued to
go up in 2001, but the average yield for the summer suggests that a lot of
sales were at discounted prices.”
