Killer virus impacts operators plans

THE killer virus terrorising Hong Kong and
neighbouring countries has forced operators to alter programmes.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, acting on World
Health Organisation advice, has told Brits not to travel to Hong Kong or the
Guangdong area of southern China while the virus remains active.

Kuoni managing director Sue Biggs said Hong Kong and
southern China is off sale until the end of April. The operator has 250 clients
in the region, with 800 due to travel.

Tradewinds has also taken the region off sale. Karl
Thompson, head of product and marketing, said 100 clients are on Hong Kong
packages, with 400 due to go. All are being offered alternative trips.
