GBTA postpones conference in Shanghai

THE
Guild of Business Travel Agents has postponed its conference in Shanghai due to
the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.

The
conference, from May 9-12, will now take place in southern Spain and all
speakers remain the same.

Speakers
include independent analyst Chris Tarry, Virgin Atlantic chief executive
officer Steve Ridgeway and bmi divisional trade manager Karolien de Hertogh.

A
full day of business sessions will be held on the Saturday with a closed
members session being held on the Sunday.

GBTA
chief executive Philip Carlisle said he had every intention of holding next
year’s conference in Shanghai.

“The decision to postpone the conference at the
Grand Hyatt in Shanghai was not easy and is disappointing for all concerned,”
he said.
