FORMER Direct Holidays chairman John Boyle is to
embark on a new travel venture with the launch of a Glasgow-based package tour
operator.
Boyle, who sold Direct Holidays to
Airtours for £80.7 million in 1998, will launch the company – thought to be a
Caribbean specialist – with his brother Hugh, former co-founder and managing
director of Direct Holidays who lives in Canada.
A spokeswoman confirmed the company will officially
launch on August 26 and is to operate out of Scotland only. However, she would
not reveal whether the operator would sell through agents or confirm its focus.
