THE Transport Salaried Staff’s Association has called on
First Choice Holidays to consider pay rises for shop staff after
news that group chief executive Peter Long earned £1.43
million last year – a 23% increase.
Association development manager Jo Twite said she believed
counter staff had made as much a donation to the company’s
£98.3 million pre-tax profits as anyone else.
She hopes this will be recognised with a suitable increase for
the staff working the shop floors, many of whom find themselves on
the bottom end of the pay bracket.
First Choice was unable to comment.
