Croatia educationals stepped up to kick-start future sales

A FURTHER 75 travel agents are being taken on educationals to Croatia as operators step up their bid to claw back lost sales.

Holiday Options is taking two educationals to the destination, one departing Gatwick on April 14 and a second trip leaving Manchester on April 28.

Transun has already announced plans to take around 300 agents to Croatia next month (Travel Weekly March 6).

Holiday Options chairman Jonathan Oakes said: “Bookings are looking healthier this year and we are aiming to consolidate this position by raising awareness in the retail trade sector.”

The Gatwick trip will last five days and take in Split, Dalmatian Islands, Makarska and Dubrovnik with the four day Manchester educational visiting the same areas except Makarska.

Oakes said he felt day trips did not give agents enough time in the country.

The educationals, run in conjunction with Croatia Airlines and the Croatian National Tourist Board, follow a tough few years for Croatia following the Bosnian war and on-going political unrest in the Balkans.
