Future Travel has stepped in following the closure of the Thomson call centre in Glasgow recruiting 18 staff as new homeworkers.
Travel Weekly reported last week that Thomson had closed the call centre down early and said that more than half of the 420 staff have found jobs elsewhere.
Representatives from Future Travel were invited in by Thomson to offer staff the opportunity to attend informal face-to-face discussions in nearby locations. The homeworking company also had its own advertising van in the area promoting recruitment opportunities.
The 18 former Thomson call centre staff have joined and are about to embark on Future Travel’s induction training scheme, which for the first time is being hosted in Scotland on December 13 and 14.
Future Travel brand development manager Amanda Taylor said: “When the closure was announced we knew that we had good career opportunities for Thomson staff.
“They already have the necessary criteria to be a homeworker. We wanted to give those who may be interested in the opportunity to find out more about furthering their travel career by working from home, and we were delighted to be invited in by Thomson to talk to their staff.”
