Homeworking companies are gearing up to launch 2007 sales campaigns as peak season sales start to pick up.
Holiday Experts is preparing to send a mailout to all customers late next week, which will be personalised from each homeworker.
Commercial director John Sullivan said the company took the decision to launch next week in the belief the market would pick up later in January.
He said: “We have had a few good days. Over the weekend calls were better than the same period last year.
“Egypt is selling pretty well, so are the Canaries and America. Overall the last few days have looked very good.”
Kwik Travel is launching its marketing campaign on January 20. However, managing director Arnold Walsh said he hoped sales would pick up this week. “The weekend didn’t perform so we need to see if there is a lift. I’m expecting it will be a difficult challenge right through the year,” he said.
Holiday Elite business development manager Karen Gooding said: “The girls have been absolutely inundated with calls. We have seen a lot of long haul and ski destinations proving popular. The Red Sea and the Maldives have been doing well too. It looks as though people are continuing to pay that bit extra.”
