Bulgaria is the fastest growing destination for car hire this winter, according to Holiday Autos.
The car hire firm has seen a record increase in bookings for Bulgaria. For the winter season – the five months between last November and March – bookings are up 490% on the same period last year.
The capital city Sofia and Varna are the two destinations where car rentals have been most popular.
Holiday Autos managing director Stuart Nassos said Bulgaria has grown in popularity as a holiday destination which has fuelled the car hire boom.
“It is a new and exciting destination and it’s still cheap to go there,” he said. “This is an emerging market for us and we have already seen such a record breaking increase in five months, it is very encouraging for the summer season.”
The top five selling destinations at Holiday Autos are currently Malaga, Alicante, Faro, Palma and Geneva.
