Mike Greenacre has been appointed managing director of The Co-operative Travel Group, which has been formed by the merger of the Co-operative Group and United Co-operatives businesses.
Greenacre, who is the current group general manager of United’s travel operation, will also continue in his role as chief operating officer for the Co-operative Travel Trading Group, the Co-operative travel businesses’ central buying operation.
Meanwhile Amanda Williams, managing director of the Co-op’s travel arm, Travelcare, is to leave the organisation. And Martin Beaumont, group chief executive of the Co-operative Group, will retire at the end of July.
The newly merged business, which will come into being on 29 July, will have a £1 billion turnover and a network of 450 travel branches and will include Cumbria Cruises and the Future travel homeworking business.
