Abta announces shortlist for board of directors elections – 5 June 2007

Abta has announced the shortlist of those standing in this year’s elections for the board of directors.

Following the restructure, Abta members will be able to vote in four categories split equally between retail business and principal business. In the retail sector the two bands are split between candidates with a turnover of under £20 million and those on more.

In the principal section the two bands are split between those with a turnover of less than £50 million and more than £50 million. Abta members will only be able to cast their vote in the group they are a member of.

One candidate will be nominated from each of the bands to join the president Justin Fleming, chief executive Mark Tanzer and three appointees on the Abta board, and members must cast their vote before June 26.

The Abta presidency will be up for election in September while the Council of Regions members were appointed last month after only one stood for each area, so avoiding the need for formal elections.
