Flood-hit Tailor Made Travel back in business – 09 Aug 2007

Tailormade Travel said it was “business as usual” three weeks after floods damaged its Evesham agency.

Up to four feet of water swept through the building when floods hit the area late last month, damaging wooden desks, floors and computers.

Sales consultants, who came into work late at night to help move furniture before the shop was flooded, have instead worked from other rooms in the building while new floors have laid and desks acquired for the front office, which was out of action for around ten days.

Marketing director Andrew Chapman said: “It was not as bad as it could have been. We came out of it quite well considering what happened to a lot of businesses. The team here were fantastic.”

However, he said the business had lost “thousands” of pounds of business as a result of the floods, with many residents having more pressing issues than holidays to deal with during the extreme weather.

It is not the first time the agency has been damaged in this way in 1998/9 the agency was also flooded. “The same thing happened as we are only around 150 yards from the river,” said Chapman.
