Thomson.co.uk is predicting that changes to annual holiday entitlement will mean more people go away on bank holiday weekends.
Up to two million full-time workers will get 24 days’ holiday a year including bank holidays from October this year and 28 days’ holiday by 2009.
As a result British workers will be able to take eight million more days holiday next year and 16 million more by 2009.
A spokesman said: “We expect this to affect both week-long and weekend breaks. People who have had little flexibility with their holiday in the past now have enough to enjoy a good two-week break or just take off for a weekend or midweek short break.”
Its top five August bank holiday city-break destinations were Palma, Prague, Marrakesh, Barcelona, and Salzburg.
