Hurricane Felix hits Caribbean – 03 Sep 2007

Hurricane Felix has been described as a ‘potentially catastrophic’ as it continues to sweep through the Caribbean.

The sixth storm of the hurricane season hit Grenada on Saturday, causing damage before passing across Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles on Sunday where tourists and residents had to take shelter.

Felix is now on track to pass over popular holiday island Jamaica and Honduras as it heads closer to Central America.

Hurricane Felix is predicted to hit Belize later this week, probably during Wednesday. The Belizean Government has issued a hurricane watch for the whole country and visitors should monitor local and international weather reports and follow the advice of the local authorities.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is also updating warnings on its website throughout the week.
