Dertour has launched its first stand-alone river cruise brochure following a 25% growth in sales of the programme in the last two years.
Tours manager Lawrence Peachey said the new River Cruise Collection features 15 cruises on 17 rivers visiting 23 European countries. The operator is already trying to negotiate additional allocations on some of the cruises which are already selling out.
He said: “We’ve been in Germany for 45 years and are strongly associated with that. The new brochure will show our broader range and it won’t be too much of a problem to get the message across.
“River cruises have proved to be very popular for us as Germany tends to attract travellers from the 45-plus market which is the same profile age wise as you get for the cruises.
“Also, people like the idea of it as a holiday it is relaxing and you get good service as well as waking up in a different city every day.”
Sales and marketing manager Annett Maennel said that adding the option of a city break at either the start or finish of a cruise had also proved popular.
Prices lead in at £649 for the eight-day Tulips and Windmills round-trip tour departing from Amsterdam. The full-board tour includes flights and wine.
