Destination Care managing director Lawrence Assock has left the group to work as a consultant for the Online Travel Group.
Assock has become head of sales and commercial development for the agency and tour operator and will oversee its product department on a long term consultancy basis.
He remains a non-executive director and shareholder of in-resort rep company Destination Care. “Once we had set everything up at Destination Care I wasn’t really needed full-time, but they can still call on me,” he said.
Assock, who is also a board director for the Institute of Travel and Tourism, has worked for a variety of travel companies including Cosmos, International Leisure Group, Thomson and Mark Warner.
At OTG he is focusing on developing its ski and Disney products. OTG’s skiextras.com brand began selling through the trade last winter, offering agents 5%-10% commission on sales of ski hire, transport, insurance and lift passes.
The company is also developing a booking engine to sell Disneyland Resort Paris holidays to the trade through its World Travellers brand, which currently only sells direct through its consumer site worldtravellers.com.
“We are looking to bring Disney product to the dynamic packaging market. Currently it’s only available to the trade through tour operators such as Cresta as packages,” he said.
