Consumers research holidays online but prefer to book through a call centre, delegates were told at the Travolution conference in London today.
Charlie Redmayne, BSkyB head of commercial partnership for the online business unit, revealed that the company viewed travel online as a “massive opportunity.”
He added: “Online is growing but we still need a call centre.”
His view was backed by Yahoo UK and Ireland category director of travel Tracey Cheffey who said a recent survey revealed that 89% of people regularly research online before booking a holiday.
However she said the number of people booking online is set to grow.
