My holidays: Stephen Vaughan, Club 18-30

Stephen Vaughan, general manager, Club 18-30

How many holidays do you take a year?

I take one short-haul and one long-haul break. I also pop across to a villa in Vale Do Lobo on the Algarve a few times a year for a spot of golf.

Do you book your holidays online or with a travel agent?

With a travel agent, of course.

Your best holiday and why?

I’ve enjoyed skiing in the Canadian Rockies, visiting the vineyards of South Africa and going to the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

My stag do in Magaluf last year takes some beating, thanks to the enriching cultural experience and fine dining with a group of well-behaved friends…

Where do you still want to go?

Australia is on my wish list. I hear so many great stories about it and, as I have family in Perth, I really must get over there.

Typical day on holiday?

It usually involves local food, a book, too much sun and, if it’s a weekend, sneaking off to a bar to keep on top of the football scores.

Best holiday companion?

Seeing as she may read this, it is undoubtedly my beautiful wife.

Worst holiday experience?

The Riviera Maya in Mexico. On arrival we headed to the pool bar where I bumped into a fellow colleague. Four hours later we staggered back to our slightly annoyed partners.

This continued when the lack of sun cream application meant the following two days had to be spent indoors. Not the best start to a holiday.
