New commission scheme boosts job applications for Kwik Travel

Homeworking company Kwik Travel has seen a 60% increase in applications from agents after introducing a scheme which pays staff commission the month after they make a booking.

Until the beginning of this year, the company’s 70 homeworkers were paid their commission after the customer settled their balance in full, which left agents waiting months to receive their cash.

Midlands-based Kwik Travel is hoping this change will break down barriers for potential homeworkers, particularly after the closures of high-street shops.

General manager Steve Briggs said the change in payments will affect cash flow, but it was possible due to the financial backing of parent company Preston Travel Group.

The system will aid recruitment, he said. “Before, it was difficult for new staff to stand on their own two feet financially at first – they had to have a bit of cash tucked away to keep them afloat for the first six months. Now they know they will get paid the next month and start earning straight away.”

“This is also great news for existing homeworkers. One of our employees who worked her socks off in January last year had generated £3,100 in one month. But as most of her bookings were for the summer, she had only received £900 in commission. This January, she has earned herself £4,555 and received the full amount last week.”
