Travel Weekly is today launching the 2008 Agent Excellence Awards.
The awards aim to recognise the talent and innovation in today’s retail travel sector. They were launched last year, when 40 agents and agencies from across the UK won the coveted golden trophy.
The awards are held on a region-by-region basis, with the Midlands/east of England first on the list.
There are 10 categories in each region, including best sales team for a large or a small agency, best homeworking agent, best cruise agency and most innovative agency. There are also awards for the business travel and call centre sectors.
Travel Weekly editor Sarah Longbottom said: “In today’s competitive market, these awards give agents the chance to show their customers why they should be the first port of call for travel bookings.
“It’s a tough sector, but those who are succeeding are demonstrating outstanding skills. We want to reward their achievements.”
A dedicated website has been set up where agents can enter themselves, a colleague, or their agency. The awards website is www.twawards.co.uk.
The awards will be held in the Midlands/east of England, north, southwest and southeast. There will also be awards for Scotland, to be launched later in the year.
The deadline for entries for the Midlands/east of England is May 2.
