Union calls for BA and BAA to listen to Terminal 5 workers

Aviation union Unite has called on British Airways and the British Airport Authority to work with it on a programme to re-establish the reputation of Terminal 5.

Unite national secretary for civil aviation Steve Turner said listening to the workforce at the new terminal will be vital as the airline and airport operator strive to stabilise operations.

He said: “Our members across the terminal in customer services, ground handling, security and cabin crew operations have shown tremendous professionalism in difficult and frustrating circumstances.

“It is vital that both BA and BAA work with us going forward to harness the wealth of their experience for the benefit of the travelling public.”

The union is now urging BA and BAA to meet with them on a joint strategy for T5’s operations.
