Sir Richard Branson issues ‘last chance’ warning to Kenya

Sir Richard Branson has warned Kenyan politicians Virgin Atlantic will pull out of the country if political violence returns.

During a trip to the country he said the politicians needed to put their egos to one side to ensure the future of the country.

Virgin Atlantic continued to fly into the country when other airlines and operators pulled out earlier this year. However, he admitted there was a cost.

He said: “We lost millions and millions of pounds but we decided to stay as we thought it was the right thing to do.”

“If the politicians mess up again they will not get a second chance.”

He added: “Kenya has suffered enormously in these six months.”

He also issued an assurance to tourists and the travel industry saying: “There is nothing to worry about even when there were problems there were not in tourist areas.”
