Analyst sees more low-cost problems

AN AVIATION analyst has predicted the collapse of another low-cost airline within the next 12 months.

Speaking at the Leisure Aviation conference in London, Deloitte and Touche head of aviation consultant Mark Darby said: “Last year I predicted that a no-frills airline would go out of business within six months.

“I was almost right. Ironically, we are now acting as administrator for Debonair.”

Go sales and marketing director David Magliano said Go planned to break even in its third year of operation, in mid-2001.

Go lost £20m in the first 17 months of operation but Magliano said the airline expects £100m in sales this year. “We have a tough winter ahead of us but we are on track financially,” he added.
