BA announces more than 100 jobs to be cut at Gatwick

British Airways is planning to cut more than 100 jobs at Gatwick airport as it announces a 15% cut in the number of departures from the airport next summer.

The majority of the job cuts are expected to be among ground handling staff including those working on the check-in desks. The airline is also withdrawing four aircraft from the airport, leaving 37 to operate out of it.

The general union has expressed its surprise at the job cuts, adding it is concerned as many as 180 jobs could be lost in the cuts.
