Peak January business by members of The Global Travel Group rose by a third year-on-year with a trend towards early booking.
The consortium’s cruise performance remains strong, while record snowfall in the Alps has ensured interest in winter ski is up 50%.
The group reports advance bookings for summer 2018 are up 20% with winter 2018-19 showing a claimed 70% surge compared to January last year.
Three Spanish destinations feature in the group’s top six best-sellers. The Canary Islands remain the top-selling destination across the membership’s base, with 8% growth. Spanish mainland destinations are up 30% while the Balearic Islands are up 15%.
Agents have seen a 15% rise in long-haul luxury bookings with destinations achieving the strongest growth so far this year include the United Arab Emirates, Mexico and the Maldives.
Managing director Andy Stark said: “This is a big year for The Global Travel Group so we’re especially delighted that our 25th anniversary has already got off such a promising start.
“We’re thrilled to see that our peaks initiative has already helped many members exceed their sales targets and we look forward to seeing how agents perform next month as we continue our new year push.”
The group’s three-month Live For Travel campaign runs until the end of March, ensuring agents have access to branded point-of-sale materials and personalised marketing tools.
