What is offered: provide small-group (maximum size 10) wildlife experience on the Otago Peninsula, adjacent to Dunedin.


What you see: highlights include royal albatrosses at Taiaroa Head, blue and yellow-eyed penguins, sealions and fur seals.


How you see it: the company uses mini-buses to travel from site to site. Visitors need to be reasonably mobile as some walking over a variety of terrain is required to reach isolated homes of some of the animals.


Best time to go: October to April when most species are breeding.


Cost and duration of tours: tours last from 5hrs-6hrs depending on time of year. Basic tour costs £14 or £21 for a boat tour of Taiaroa Head.
