British Airways has launched a new direct service from London to St Kitts in the Caribbean.
The first flight touched down on January 12, with a a number of VIPs from British Airways and Minister of State for Tourism, Sports and Culture Richard Skerritt on board.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts Denzil L Douglas offered passengers a warm welcome. He said: “By this historic and momentous occasion, our Federation is signalling to our tourism industry partners and the rest of the world, our serious commitment and willingness to redefine themselves as a tourist destination.”
British Airways global sales manager for corporate and leisure Richard Tams added: “Today’s flight represents a new scheduled service from an airline that does not start new routes lightly. Our first flight was almost full which is a good indication of things to come.”
