EasyJet makes winter ski route return to Southampton airport

EasyJet is returning to Southampton airport with a season of winter ski flights.

Tickets go on sale today (Thursday) for the first flights of the new season to Geneva.

Departures from Southampton to Geneva will start in December and operate three times a week throughout the winter on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using an Airbus A320.

Later flight times returning from Geneva will mean more time in ski resorts such as Zermatt, Verbier and Val d-Isere.

Bookings will open for February and March 2019 departures later this month, with April 2019 flights available later in the year.

More than 10,000 passengers used the service in its first winter in 2017-18.

Airport managing director Dave Lees said: “We are delighted to see easyJet returning after a successful first season with us.

“Passengers in the south don’t want to transport their ski equipment up to London airports, and the breeze-through facilities we offer at Southampton are perfect for skiers who want to maximise their time on the slopes.

“As word of mouth spreads about our direct flights we expect even more passengers to take advantage of the convenience of skiing direct from Southampton.”

EasyJet UK country manager Ali Gayward said: “After a successful first year of operation it’s great that we are seeing continued demand from passengers travelling with us from the region.

“Our Geneva route provides customers looking to hit the slopes next winter or spend Christmas in the Alps, with an easy and affordable connection.”
