Virgin Atlantic announce ‘mile high tea’ tie up with Eric Lanlard

French master pâtissier Eric Lanlard is taking high tea to 38,000ft on Virgin Atlantic flights later this summer.

The celebrity chef, who already oversees speciality afternoon teas for P&O Cruises, has created bespoke menus for passengers on flights worldwide as well as the airline’s Heathrow Clubhouse lounge.

Passengers across all three of Virgin Atlantic’s cabins will be able to sample his signature afternoon tea on day flights, featuring handmade sandwiches, scones and macarons.

Lanlard will be trialling the on board high tea on a special test flight this month to hone the perfect menu for each cabin.

Te carrier’s customer experience vice president Daniel Kerzner said: “We’re excited to work with Eric Lanlard and introduce a fresh take on afternoon tea to our Heathrow Clubhouse from April, and on board our flights from late summer.

“It’s the first time that Eric has partnered with an airline, and I think our customers are going to love it.”

Lanlard said: “I can’t wait to combine my passion for baking with air travel. And who better to do it with than a fun, dynamic and iconic brand such as Virgin Atlantic.

“We’re on a mission to own afternoon tea both in the air and on the ground at the Heathrow Clubhouse.“
