Primera Air’s first transatlantic Stansted flight takes off

Budget Nordic airline Primera Air has taken off from Stansted with its first transatlantic route.

New York is being served by an Airbus A321neo with fares starting at £149 one-way.

More routes from Stansted are due to be added this summer to Boston, Toronto and Washington DC.

Primera Air is the first airline in 10 years to fly scheduled transatlantic routes from the airport.

The airline’s chief commercial officer Anastasija Visnakova said: “We have already begun operations in London and really wanted to make a song and dance of the fact that we’re aiming to make expensive long-haul travel history.”
