Direct-sell tour operator Travel Club of Upminster is to sell through travel agents for the first time since its acquisition by Alpha Prospects.
Alpha Prospects non-executive chairman Steven Freudmann said the tour operator, one of ABTA’s oldest members, will now make its product available for sale through the trade, mainly upmarket independent travel agents.
It has annual passenger carryings of around 10,000 and specialises in Greece, Spain and Portugal holidays. It was founded by former ABTA president Harry Chandler
Freudmann, who has also stepped down as director of Alpha Prospects’ subsidiary Unpackaged Holidays because of a potential conflict of interest, said: “People are moving back to the trade to book holidays and seeking more comfort and advice from agents.”
Meanwhile, Alpha Prospects is on the verge of acquiring two further travel companies.
