Jet2.com falls foul of Advertising Standards Authority

Jet2.com has had its knuckles rapped by the Advertising Standards Authority after advertising deals on flights that did not exist.

The national press advert released last year offered one-way flights to a list of destinations including Majorca, Menorca, Rhodes, Crete and Cyprus, travelling betweeen December and April, for £9.99 including taxes.

However, a reader claimed that some of the destinations advertised would not see flights commence until after the advertised period of time.

Jet2.com admitted the copy sent to the newspapers to use in the adverts was incorrect, adding it had tried to resubmit correct copy but found it had missed the deadlines.

It said the team responsible for the advert had been retrained while there were no plans to use the advert again.

ASA upheld the complaint, adding the advert must not reappear in its current form and reminding the low cost airline to ensure destinations are correct in future adverts.
