The Triton Travel Group is confident it will announce two new consortia as members imminently.
Talks have been progressing with two groups of agents, one of which is understood to be Northern Ireland-based Consort Travel Group.
Meanwhile, it is thought unlikely that TTA will join Triton despite its merger with existing member Worldchoice following a series of talks.
Triton chairman Steven Freudmann would not confirm the names of potential newcomers, but said: “I am optimistic we will be able to make an announcement about two new groups joining Triton. We are close to concluding talks and hope to announce the outcome within days.”
The Consort Travel Group has 20 agents with 30 shops and is a member of the Global Travel Group-owned Independent Options consortium. Global is a founding member of the Triton Travel Group.
Secretary James Buchanan confirmed the group had been looking at alternative consortia. It was originally approached by Advantage to join but is considering a closer tie-up with Triton. “We are looking to improve the earning potential of the group and we need to be aligned to a much bigger group. We want to improve benefits for members and we started looking at various consortia,” he said.
The group had specific needs relating to product and deals for the Northern Ireland market, he added.
Meanwhile, Triton is set to confirm details of a Triton conference this year.
